Violent Kidnapping in a High School

During the night of October 2, at 00.20 a.m, armed members from the Muslim herdsmen Fulani community invaded a Christian High school, the Engravers’ College in Kakau Daji, a northern village.

Shunom Giwa, vice principal of Engravers’ College, said that during the night five armed herdsmen speaking in Fulani appeared outside his door. They ordered him to lie down while another group of men came with Joel Adamu, the school’s vice principal academics so Shunom seeing that the assailants weren’t watching him ran into a bush.

The armed men tried to shoot him but missed and started searching for students. They went to the school hostel and forced the door, Shunom tried to distract them and shouted “security, come, there are kidnappers here” but their tried again to shoot him so he ran for his life.

Meanwhile the men kidnapped six teenage girls, Joel Adamu and the house mistress. The kidnappers went out with them and kept them prisoners. They have claimed a ransom of 30 million naira (about 75.000 euros) per student.



Violent enlèvement dans un lycée

Dans la nuit du 2 au 3 octobre, à 00.20 environ, des membres armés de la communauté pastorale musulmane fulani ont pénétré dans un lycée chrétien l’Engravers’ College à Kakau Daji, un village du nord du pays.

Selon Shunom Giwa, le proviseur adjoint, cinq bergers armés parlant fulani se sont présentés devant sa porte et lui ont ordonné de s’allonger sur le sol.

Un autre groupe d’hommes armés est arrivé avec Joel Adamu, un autre membre de l’administration et Shunom en a profité pour s’enfuir et se cacher dans un buisson. Les hommes armés lui ont tiré dessus sans parvenir à le toucher puis se sont dirigés vers le bâtiment des pensionnaires.

Les assaillants ont forcé la porte du dortoir et Shunom a alors crié : « Sécurité, venez, il y a des kidnappeurs ici » les assaillants ont de nouveau essayé de l’atteindre mais il a réussi à s’échapper. Pendant ce temps les hommes ont enlevé six élèves, Joel Adamu et la maitresse de maison. Ils sont partis avec leurs otages et réclament une rançon de 30 millions de naira (environ 75.000 euros) par personne.
