On November 26, several thousand people living in small villages in central Nigeria were forced to leave their homes after being victims of violent attacks orchestrated by armed bandits.


In the Shiroro District, a group of armed men invaded the streets and scared the locals by firing shots in the air and burning homes.

It is estimated that more than 4,000 people were forced to flee their villages as a result of these attacks.

For the moment, the victims are housed in a medical camp located in the neighboring district.

The bandits come from small camps in the Rugu forest.

They attack the villages to loot and kidnap the inhabitants for ransom.



This is not the first time such attacks have occured, causing people to flee. Last June, a bandit attack killed 40 people and forced 2,000 residents to leave their village.

To stop the violence, the authorities had reached an agreement with the bandits, obliging them to lay down their arms. Those who will follow this agreement could benefit from an amnesty. The rate of bandit attacks had dropped significantly since the agreement, except in neighboring areas of Nigeria, which were not concerned by the agreement.

Le 26 novembre, plusieurs milliers de personnes vivant dans des petits villages du centre du Nigeria ont dû quitter leur foyer après avoir été victimes de violentes attaques orchestrées par des bandits armés.



C’est dans le district de Shiroro qu’un groupe d’hommes armés a envahi les rues et effrayé les habitants en tirant des coups de feu en l’air et en incendiant les habitations.

On estime à plus de 4000 le nombre de personnes qui ont été contraintes de fuir leur village suite à ces attaques. Pour l’instant, les blessés et les déplacés sont logés dans un camp médical situé dans le district voisin.

Les bandits viennent de petits camps dans la forêt de Rugu.

Ils attaquent les villages pour les piller et kidnappent les habitants pour obtenir une rançon.



Ce n’est pas la première fois que des bandits attaquent les villages et poussent les habitants à fuir. En juin dernier, une attaque a fait 40 morts et a contraint 2000 habitants à fuir leur village.

Pour faire cesser ces violences, les autorités ont conclu un accord avec les groupes d’agresseurs, leur ordonnant de déposer les armes en échange de l’amnistie pour ceux qui accepteraient.



Depuis cet accord, les agressions sont moins nombreuses mais commencent à reprendre de l’ampleur dans les régions limitrophes du Nigeria.
