Death message to the world
On 26 December, a video showing the execution of eleven Christians was claimed by the Islamic State in northern Nigeria.
The video shows eleven men, presented as Christians, handcuffed and blindfolded. The victims were shot and then stabbed.
One of the gunmen described the act as “a message for the Christians around the world.”
The purpose of this criminal act was to avenge the death of the leader of the Islamic State after an American-led operation in Syria in October 2019.
Since the video, the jihadists have multiplied violent actions in Nigeria, such as the one of a group of men belonging to Boko Haram who blocked a road the Christmas Eve and kidnapped the motorists.
Over the past 10 years, jihadism in Nigeria has killed more than 36,000 people and displaced millions, causing a major humanitarian crisis in this part of the world.

Le 26 décembre, une vidéo montrant l’exécution de onze chrétiens a été revendiquée par l’Etat Islamique, dans le nord du Nigeria.
La vidéo montre onze hommes, présentés comme étant chrétiens, menottés et les yeux bandés. Les victimes ont été exécutées par balle puis poignardées.
Un des hommes armés a décrit cet acte comme « un message pour les chrétiens du monde entier ».
Le but de cet acte criminel était de venger la mort du chef de l’état islamique après une opération menée par les américains en Syrie en octobre 2019.
Depuis la vidéo, les djihadistes ont multiplié les actions violentes au Nigeria, par exemple un groupe d’hommes appartenant à Boko Haram ont bloqué une route la veille de Noël et kidnappé les automobilistes qui l’empruntaient.
En 10 ans, le djihadisme au Nigeria a fait plus de 36.000 morts et plusieurs millions de personnes déplacées, ce qui provoque une crise humanitaire majeure dans cette région du monde.
