Molues banned from Lagos Island
The Lagos State Government
banned the famous yellow buses, known as "Molues", from Lagos Island. Indeed,
since the beginning of September, none
of these Mercedes trucks are allowed to cross the bridges which connect the island to the rest
of the country.
The government apparently took
this decision to improve the traffic conditions of the town and thus contribute
to a healthier environnment for the inhabitants.
Those overcrowded buses, whose
drivers were said never to respect traffic regulations, are nonetheless a symbol of Nigeria. However, Molues
were only forbidden on Lagos Island, and so keep driving along in the other
parts of the state.

Le
gouvernement de l'Etat de Lagos a interdit les très célèbres bus jaunes, connus
sous le nom de "Molues", de Lagos Island. En effet, depuis début septembre, aucun de ces camions
Mercedes n'est autorisé à traverser les ponts qui relient l'île au continent.
Le gouvernement aurait
manifestement pris cette décision pour améliorer les conditions de circulation
de la ville et ainsi apporter un environnement plus sain aux
habitants.
Ces bus bondés, dont les chauffeurs ne respectent que rarement le code de la
route, sont pourtant un emblème du Nigéria. Néanmoins, les Molues n'ont été
interdits de circulation qu’à Lagos et continueront donc à circuler dans le reste du pays.
