Wizkid, born Ayodeji Balogun, is a 27-year-old Nigerian singer of Afropop, reggae, dancehall and Latin music.
He became famous
because of his feature on Drake’s song, One Dance. He has released a new album named Sounds from the Other Side which includes some mashup of Yoruba and
Nigerian pidgin. The first song of this new album is entitled Sweet Love, a mix of Afropop and reggaeton.
This artist is the
first African to hold a sold-out show at
the Albert Hall on the 29 of September, a venue
fully dedicated to arts in London.
It’s a big step in
the internationalization of Afrobeat and
Wizkid is the genre’s main ambassador.
