LAGOS – the arrest of a young native of Nigeria for his attempt destroy a transatlantic airliner still highlighted the strong influence of the Islamic fundamentalism which is infiltrating in Africa.
While the government and the authorities of Nigeria considered the failed attack an isolated act, a series of recent attacks has shown a progression of Radical Islam.
The Nigerian government, while admitting that they have problems on their hands, insists on the fact that terrorism is alien to the country.
But the MEND, a notorious terrorist group financed by oil, questions their authority in the Niger Delta.
Northern Nigeria, home to a Muslim majority while the south of the country is mainly Christian, is "fertile ground" for international terrorism.
That's why in Nigeria today, the situation is really complicated.

Un attentat déjoué repose la question du terrorisme
L'arrestation d'un jeune Nigérian qui avait tenté de faire sauter un avion de ligne transatlantique a encore souligné la forte emprise du fondamentalisme islamique sur l' Afrique.
Tandis que le gouvernement nigérian considère l'attentat manqué comme un acte isolé, une série d'attaques récentes sur des cibles nigérianes montre une progression de l'Islam radical.
Le gouvernement, tout en admettant qu'il a des problèmes à régler, insiste sur le fait que le terrorisme est étranger au pays alors que le MEND, un groupe terroriste très connu, financé par le pétrole exerce son autorité dans le delta du Niger,.
Le nord du pays est majoritairement musulman alors que le sud est chrétien et la situation du Nigeria est extrêmement compliquée.
