Air attack gone bad

 Tuesday 24 January, in Borno state, in the north east of Nigeria, an air attack went terribly wrong. The Nigerian army thought they were bombing a base of Boko Haram militants but that was not the case, instead they killed 115 innocent civilians.

It was the biggest attack in 8 years against Boko Haram. The commanders responsible for this mistake apologized and said it was due to the “fog of war”. Human Rights Watch claimed the victims should be compensated.

A humanitarian aid said that the attack caused terror and chaos in the camp. During the attack a witness said that he saw dead children lying on the ground with horrible wounds.

In Rann between 20,000 and 40,000 person were refugees. All those who died have been buried and the wounded received treatment in hospital. The Red Cross has distributed food to more than 25,000 people since Saturday.

Une attaque aérienne qui tourne mal

 Mardi 24 janvier, dans l’Etat de Borno dans le nord-est du Nigeria une attaque aérienne a mal tourné. L’armée pensait bombarder une base de militants de Boko Haram mais ce n’était pas le cas. A cause de leur erreur 115 personnes ont été tuées.

Il s’agit de la plus grande attaque depuis 8 ans contre Boko Haram. Les responsables de cette erreur ont expliqué qu’elle était due à la “mauvaise visibilité”. L’ONG Human Rights exige une indemnisation des victimes.

Selon un travailleur humanitaire, deux bombes ont semé la terreur et le chaos dans le camp. Durant cette attaque un témoin a affirmé qu’il a vu des enfants morts sur le sol et de multiples blessés.

A Rann, on dénombrait entre 20.000 et 40.000 réfugiés. Tous les morts ont été enterrés.et les blessés reçoivent un traitement dans des hôpitaux. La Croix Rouge a distribué de la nourriture à plus de 25.000 personnes depuis samedi.

Suicide attack in Madagali

Two female suicide bombers killed 45 people in a suicide bomb attack in the north-eastern Nigerian town of Madagali in Adamawa state. They detonated explosives in a market at the second-hand clothing section.

33 people at least were injured in the terrorist bombing. No group confirmed to be behind the attack but Boko Haram often use suicide attacks and they were forced out of Madagali in 2015. The two women dressed as shoppers.

Two young girls used as human bombs in a market

Two girls of seven or eight years old detonated their explosives in a market. They were killed. During the attack a man tried to speak with one of the girl but she didn’t answer.

They didn’t show the slightest sign of emotion so nobody questioned about them.

Deux femmes kamikazes ont tué 45 personnes dans un attentat suicide dans le nord-est du Nigeria à Madagali dans l’Etat Adamawa. Elles se sont fait exploser dans un marché dans le secteur des fripiers.

Au moins 33 personnes ont été blessées dans l’attentat terroriste. Aucun groupe n’a confirmé être derrière ces attaques mais Boko Haram a souvent utilisé des attentats suicide et ils avaient occupé Madagali avant d’en être chassés en 2015.

Deux fillettes utilisées comme bombes humaines

Deux jeunes filles de sept ou huit ans se sont fait exploser dans un marché.

Avant l’attaque un homme avait essayé de parler avec l’une d’elles mais elle ne lui avait pas répondu.

Elles n’ont pas montré le moindre signe d’émotion alors personne ne s’est posé de question à propos d’elles..

Boko Haram releases a group of Chibok girls

  In April 2014, 276 high school students were kidnapped in Chibok in the north of Nigeria by Boko Haram jihadists who used them as sex slaves.

After this kidnapping an international online campaign which included Michelle Obama spread the message “Bring back our Girls”.

Mid-January Islamists approached the government to negotiate an exchange asking the Nigerian government to release jailed militants against girls.

The government asked the Islamist group for a proof they were still alive received five pictures of the girls.

During their detention they had been married to fighters and many among them had been killed. The Christian high school students were forcefully converted to Islam. 

On Thursday 13 October twenty-one students and four prisoners freed.

It seems that this exchange is a new way of negotiating while many girls are still captive.

Des lycéennes de Chibok libérées

    En avril 2014, 276 lycéennes avaient été enlevées à Chibok dans le nord du Nigeria par le groupe djihadiste Boko Haram qui en firent leurs esclaves sexuelles.

Après cet enlèvement, Une campagne internationale sur internet animée entre autres par  Michelle Obama a fait circuler le message : "Ramenez nos filles".

Mi-janvier des islamistes aurait contacté le gouvernement pour négocier un échange de prisonniers contre des jeunes filles.

Le gouvernement ayant demandé aux islamistes une preuve de vie et ceux-ci ont envoyé cinq photos des filles.

Pendant leur captivité elles avaient été mariées à des combattants et beaucoup parmi elles ont été tuées. Les lycéennes chrétiennes ont été converties de force à l'Islam.

     Jeudi 13 octobre vingt et une lycéennes ont été libérées suite à une négociation ou le gouvernement a libérés 4 prisonniers de Boko haram. Il semble que cet échange soit une nouvelle manière de négocier alors qu’il reste encore de nombreuses captives.
