According to UN humanitarian coordinator Peter Lundberg in the heartland of Boko Haram militants approximately 14 million people need humanitarian aid among whom 400,000 children. He said “75.000 of them are going to die in the few months ahead if we don’t do something fast there”.. He warns that UN haven’t enough funds to combat the crisis.
Boko Haram jihadists have devastated the region before being hunt back by Nigerian forces in recent months.
Ten of thousands of people have been killed and more than two million people moved since Boko Haram started their military operations in 2009 in the Borno state and other neighboring areas.

Dans le nord ouest du Nigeria 75.000 enfants risquent de mourir de faim en raison des violences perpétrées par Boko Haram.
Selon le coordinateur humanitaire des Nations Unies Peter Lundberg, dans la région d’origine des militants de Boko Haram 14 millions de personnes environ dont 400.000 enfants ont besoin d’une aide humanitaire, 75.000 d’entre eux si l’on n’agit pas rapidement vont mourir dans les mois à venir. Il avertit que l’ONU ne possède pas assez de fonds pour combattre la crise.
Les djihadistes de Boko Haram ont dévasté la région avant d'être repoussés par les forces nigérianes il y a quelques mois.
Des dizaines de milliers de personnes ont été tuées et plus de deux millions ont été déplacées depuis que Boko Haram a commencé ses opérations militaires en 2009 dans l’état de Borno et les régions voisines.
