Susannah Ishaya is the first of some
200 girls held in captivity by Islamic extremist Boko Haram fighters to be
released and to find her way home.
On April 2014, in Nigeria, Islamic militant
Boko Haram fighters abducted some 276 girls and women from the Government
Secondary School. Most of them are still missing but
some 60 female students escaped.
Ishaya has been found on Monday Sept. 22. She
said that she was left in the bush on Sept. 19 then she stumbled on a village
where she was taken in, after four days of disorientation.
Rev. Enoch Mark stayed with the
young woman on Thursday Sept. 23 night and said that she spent a tortured
night, tossing and turning and screaming “They will kill me! They will kill
me!”
Mark added that the schoolgirl’s identity isn’t
clear because she does not speak the local language but she identified herself
as Susannah Ishaya. Pogu Bitrus (the community leader) called her from Chibok
on Thursday. 23 and gave information about the girl’s identity. He said that on
his list of missing students there is a Susannah and that her father is a local
carpenter from Chad. And Ishaya told Mark her father is from Chad but to
positively identify her, the vice principal of the school is trying to get to a
Nigeria military hospital.
Mark noted that after the April attack,
most residents have abandoned Chibok and efforts to find
Ishaya’s father have been
unsuccessful.
Ishaya said that the captors threw
into the bush the girls who were too ill but no
other girl has come back home
yet.
Rev.Mark specified that this first
appearance of a Chibok abductee could inspire hope.

La première des jeunes filles
enlevées va rentrer chez elle

Ishaya est la première d’environ 200 filles, tenues en captivité par les
combattants islamiques extrémistes de Boko Haram, à être libérée.
En avril 2014, au
Nigéria, les combattants islamistes de Boko Haram ont enlevé environ 276 jeunes
filles du collège gouvernemental de Chibok. La plupart d’entre elles restent portées disparues mais
environ 60 se sont échappées.
Ishaya a été
trouvée le mardi 22 septembre. Elle dit qu’elle a été laissée dans la brousse
le 19 septembre puis qu’elle est tombée
par hasard sur un village où elle a été prise en charge, après quatre jours de
désorientation.
Le
révérend Enoch Mark est resté avec la jeune femme dans la nuit du 23 septembre
et a dit qu’elle a passé une nuit terrible, se tournant et se retournant en criant : «Ils vont me tuer ! Ils vont
me tuer!».
Mark
a ajouté que l’identité de l’écolière n’est pas claire car elle ne parle pas le
langage local mais elle s’est identifiée comme étant Susannah Ishaya. Pogu
Bitrus, le chef de la communauté, l’a appelée de Chibok le mardi 23 et a donné
des informations sur son identité. Il a dit que, sur sa liste d’étudiantes
disparues, figurait une Susannah
et que son père est un charpentier local venant du Tchad.
Ishaya a dit à Mark que son pèrevenait du Tchad mais pour bien l’identifier, le
principal adjoint de l’école essaye de joindre l’hôpital militaire du Nigéria.
Mark
a noté qu’après l’attaque d’avril, la plupart
des résidents avait abandonné Chibok
et les efforts de recherche pour trouver le père d’Ishayasont pour l’instant restés vains.
Ishaya
a dit que les ravisseurs abandonnaient dans la
brousse les filles trop malades qui représentaient un
fardeau pour eux, mais aucune autre fille n’est revenue chez elle.
Mark
a précisé que la première apparition d’une fille de Chibok enlevée pouvait
inspirer de l’espoir.
