Terrorist attack targets French government

     A French man was kidnapped last week by Ansaru, an Islamic group which claimed responsibility for the abduction in a statement to journalists.
     This attack was targeted against the French government and French citizens, the reasons being France’s stance on Islam and Muslims since the wearing of niqab (veil) was prohibited by French law.
     The French mannamed Francis Colump, an engineer 63 years old, from the French firm Vergnet was attacked by 30 gunmen. In the same time, a security guard and a neighbour were killed.
     French President Francois Hollande announced that the group was probably allied to Al-Qaeda, but he didn’t refer to a specific organisation. He told that French authorities have to be firm because of terrorism while maintaining contacts to free French nationals.
     Ansaru, a Nigeria-based terrorist organisation aligned with Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (Aqim) hasalready launched attacksin northern Nigeria to impose Islamic law, probably in northern Mali including the historic city of Timbuktu and in Niger. Ansaru threatened French government considering that it is favourable to help military action in North Mali. It will continue launching such attacks as long as the French policy on the combined issues of Islam and Muslims remains the same.
     This new kidnapping complicates the French government’s foreign policy.

Un Français enlevé au Nigeria, un nouveau problème pour le gouvernement français

     Un Français a été enlevé la semaine dernièrepar Ansaru, un groupe islamiste qui a revendiqué la responsabilité de cet enlèvement dans un communiqué à la presse.
     Cet enlèvement visait le gouvernement français et ses citoyens, en raison de la position de la France sur l'Islam et les musulmans. En effet, le port du voile intégral a été interdit par la loi française.
     L’otage, Francis Colump, un ingénieur de 63 ans, travaillant pour la société française Vergnet a été attaqué par 30 hommes armés. Au moment de l’assaut, un garde de sécurité et un voisin ont été tués.
     Le président français François Hollande a annoncé que le groupe était probablement allié à Al-Qaïda, mais il n’a pas fait allusion à une organisation spécifique. Il a dit que les autorités françaises doivent être fermes vis à vis du terrorisme, tout en maintenant des contacts pour libérer les ressortissants français.
     Ansaru, une organisation terroriste basée au Nigeria et alliée àAl-Qaïda au Maghreb islamique (Aqmi) a déjà agi dans le nord du Nigeria pour imposer la loi islamique, probablement dans le nord du Mali, notamment la ville historique de Tombouctou, et au Niger. Ansaru a menacé le gouvernement français car il considère qu'il soutient l'action militaire dans le nord du Mali. Il recommencera de telles attaques tant que la politique française sur les deux sujets de l’Islam et des Musulmans sera inchangée.
     Cette nouvelle prise d’otage vient compliquer la politique extérieure du gouvernement français.
