Since last Thursday, militants are suspected in the states of Rivers and Akwa-Ibom to have kidnapped senator Lee Maeba's mother, Nowa Maeba, 77 years old, in her village.
They also kidnapped three other persons, a Nigerian and two foreigners, on the boat Oceanic Orian last thursday. They are employees of a Canadian oil company, Addax Petroleum working in the Adanga oil station, located in the state of Akwa-Ibom.
In Nigeria, militants regularly commit kidnappings, particularly in the region of the Niger Delta. The rate of kidnappings in Nigeria is one of the highest in the world.

Des militants kidnappent quatre personnes
On soupçonne des militants rebelles des états de Rivers et Akwa-Ibom d’avoir enlevé jeudi dernier la mère du sénateur Lee Maeba, Nowa Maeba, 77 ans, dans son village.
Ils ont également enlevé trois autres personnes, un nigerian et deux étrangers sur le bateau Oceanic Orian jeudi dernier. Ils travaillaient dans la station de pétrole Adanga, située dans l'état d' Akwa-Ibom. Ils étaient employés d'une companie pétrolière canadienne, Addax Petroleum.
Au Nigeria, des enlèvements sont régulièrement commis par des militants, notamment dans le Delta du Niger. Le taux d'enlèvements au Nigeria est un des plus élevés au monde.
