After the declaration of the Ebola outbreak in the north-west of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DNC), where two people were affected by the virus lately, The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has decided to control the airports. The authorities want to make sure that the virus doesn’t enter the country because of immigration. To ensure the health safety of the country, immigration officials take the temperature of travelers.
All these precautions have been taken to avoid what happened in 2014 when more than 11,000 people died following the outbreak in West Africa. During that period, 8 people died in Nigeria. Patrick Sawyer, a Nigerian lawyer was affected by the virus and brought it into the country and a doctor, named Stella Ameyo Adadevo, who tried to heal him died because of the Ebola virus. She helped to avoid a devastating outbreak.
NIS spokesman Sunday James said that everybody in the country is concerned and has to take it very seriouly. He claims that precautions allow infected people to be treated by health officials in the airport.

Après qu’une nouvelle épidémie du virus Ebola a été déclarée dans la partie nord-ouest de la République Démocratique du Congo, où deux personnes atteintes par le virus sont mortes récemment, le Service d’Immigration du Nigeria a décidé de contrôler les aéroports.
Les autorités veulent s’assurer que le virus n’entre pas dans le pays. C’est pourquoi les fonctionnaires de l’immigration prennent la température des voyageurs.
Toutes ces précautions permettent d’éviter ce qu’il s’est passé en 2014 quand 11 000 personnes sont mortes au cours de l’épidémie qui a touché l’Afrique de l’Ouest.
Cette année-là, 8 personnes étaient mortes au Nigeria après le retour au pays de Patrick Sawyer, un avocat nigérian atteint par le virus. Le docteur Stella Ameyo Adadevo était morte en essayant de le sauver mais avait évité que l’épidémie ne se répande dans le pays.
Le porte-parole du Service d’Immigration du Nigeria, Sunday James a tenu à avertir la population que la situation devait être prise au sérieux, que tout le pays était concerné et que ces précautions permettaient aux malades ou aux cas suspects d’être mieux pris en charge.
