Nigeria wins football world championship U17
On Friday 8 November, Nigeria won the world under-17 football championship for a record fourth time. The final took place in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and they won 3 to 0 against Mexico.
Three days before, they had defeated Switzerland on the same score.
Nigeria won the inaugural tournament in 1995 and was also triumphant in 1993 and in 2007. Brazil has won the two-yearly tournament three times followed by Ghana and Mexico.
Their triumph, however, is no guarantee of a successful career for the players. Only a relatively small number have gone on to flourish at senior level.

Le vendredi 8 novembre, le Nigéria a gagné le championnat du monde de football des moins de 17 ans pour la quatrième fois, ce qui est un record.
La finale a eu lieu à Abou Dhabi (Emirats Arabes Unis), il a battu le Mexique avec un score de 3 à 0.
Trois jours auparavant, il avait défait la Suisse sur le même score.
