Friday
5th January 2018, the Department for State Service ( DSS ) arrested a
Cameroonian in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. Sisiku Ayuk Tabe is the
leader of a separatist movement in Cameroon named « Governing
Council of Ambazonia » ( GCA).
His
movement is composed of the English minority activists who want to
separate from French-speaking regions. The Republic of Ambazonia is
the name given by independantists at the Southern Cameroon which is
not recognize as a country.
Several
members of GCA asked the Nigerian president Buhari to release Sisiku
Ayuk Tabe. In fact, the arrest is illegal since according to the
African Charter : « All peoples shall have the
right to self-determination. They shall freely determine their
political status... ».

séparatiste camerounais arrêté au Nigeria
Vendredi
5 Janvier 2018 la DSS qui est la principale agence de renseignement
nigériane a arrêté un ressortissant Camerounais à Abuja, la
capitale du Nigeria. Sisiku Ayuk Tabe est le leader d’un groupe
séparatiste camerounais
appelé « Governing Council of Ambazonia » ( GCA ).Son
mouvement regroupe des militants de la minorité anglophone du
Cameroun qui souhaite acquérir son indépendance par rapport à la
majorité francophone.
La
République d’Ambazonie est le nom donné par ce groupe à la
partie sud du Cameroun où est concentrée cette minorité ;
cependant cette République n’est pas reconnue tout comme son
président Ayuk Tabe. Certains indépendantistes ont demandé au
président nigérian de libérer leur chef, demande restée sans
réponse. Pour eux, cette arrestation est illégale car la charte
africaine stipule que tout peuple a droit à l’auto-détermination.
